Did you know there is a day called ‘National Hot Toddy Day?’ That’s right! There most certainly is. If you occasionally imbibe an alcohol beverage, why not make this a fun day to celebrate on your own or with friends! 😀
What is a “hot toddy’ you ask? Well, to make a classic hot toddy, you’ll need hot water, whisky (or bourbon or rum), honey, and lemon. A cinnamon stick adds a touch of warmth but is optional. The warm drink is created in a kettle and has been known to be best enjoyed by the fire. Think of classic movies with the snow falling outside. ❄️❄️❄️ If you live in the warmer states, feel free to put snow falling on the television and pretend 😉.
This toasty drink is even rumored to relieve cold and flu symptoms, but we will let you make that decision for yourself.
Grab your friends if you like, grab some Boo-Shaw Bakery Cookies as a delicious accompaniment and try out a new beverage (you can even have a Mocktail Hot Toddy if you prefer or are participating in Dry January!). Here are a few types you can try that we found on National Today:
-
Hot Scotch Toddy: Switch out the traditional liquors with Scotch, but be warned — it’s strong!
-
Hot Apple Toddy: Mix the alcohol of your choice with some apple cider — we recommend whiskey.
-
Hot Ginger Toddy: Mix the typical ingredients with some ginger-flavored liquor like Domane de Canton.
-
Hot Cinnamon Apple Toddy: This just says cozy. Combine cinnamon schnapps with hot apple cider and cuddle up.
-
Hot Buttered Toddy: For one of the most lavish versions of the hot toddy, combine the usual ingredients with a few tablespoons of butter. That’s smooth.
