OK Ladies (and men who want to spread the word), today is an important day to be aware of together! National Women’s Heart Day. ❤️❤️❤️ Sure, Valentine’s Day is on the horizon, but today is even more important in our opinion. Today is an initiative to spread awareness about women’s cardiovascular health, and wear any red you may have – a red dress, pants, shoes or even a hat.
According to records from the American Heart Association National Survey, awareness about women’s cardiovascular health has continued to drop. Cardiovascular disease has been discovered to be the cause of one out of five deaths in women. The notion of cardiovascular diseases is often associated with men rather than women. This is why poor heart health often goes unnoticed among women.
This is another reason the entire month of February is known as American Heart Month! Don’t have enough cute Red clothes? Visit the American Heart Association’s “Shop Heart” website and buy a few things to help support the cause and get some snazzy clothes. “Go Red for Women!”
To observe this important day, remember to follow these 3 pieces of advice:
- Wear Red (that one’s easy)
- Schedule a Heart Screening and maybe take your mother, sister, and your girlfriends for screenings as well.
- Raise funds for the cause – Donate to American Heart Association at Go Red for Women
Let’s all work together to raise awareness and beat these cardiovascular diseases!
