Boo-Shaw Bakery would like to offer a friendly reminder to everyone! Daylight Savings Time (DST) is March 12, 2023. Make sure you advance your clock 1 full hour so you don’t get left behind 😉 ⏰.
Daylight Savings Time was first implemented in the US with the Standard Time Act of 1918, a wartime measure for seven months during World War I in the interest of adding more daylight hours to conserve energy resources. Currently, there are many debates if DST is still necessary. There have been many studies to determine if Daylight Savings Time changes provide benefits or harm to our economy, health and overall well-being as they once did. As usual, opinions vary greatly on this matter.
There are currently measures in the United States legislature trying to abolish clock changes in favor of Daylight Savings Time year round. On March 15, 2022, just days after clocks were adjusted to “spring forward,” the U.S. Senate passed the Sunshine Protection Act of 2021. But the Sunshine Protection Act did not receive approval by the House of Representatives and the President of the United States in time. In 2023, another push to abolish time change has been introduced. Read all of the details at: https://sleepfoundation.org.
Whether you are for or against time change, as of today; Daylight Savings Time changes are currently still in place in most of the United States. Make sure you follow your local time!!
